Platinum, Gold and Silver jewellery

The best-known precious metals are gold and silver as these were used in coinage in the pre-modern era. While there are many  industrial uses for precious metals they are better known for their uses in art, jewellery and coinage. Other precious metals now often used in jewellery include the platinum group of metals of which platinum and now palladium are the most well known.

There is also rhodium which is also commonly used in jewellery making to plate white gold and then ruthenium, osmium and iridium.
